MEMORIES

13 November - 27 December 2014

As the proverb says, travel broadens the mind. In a modest, touching and brilliant way, the first solo show of Karl Mazlo confirms the truth of this old adage.

When he left in 2013 to seek harmony in the Country of the Rising Sun with the idea of getting through a particularly painful personal breakdown, he could not at all foresee that he would return so rich. He came back indeed with  the heart and mind filled with these images and impressions that today infuse his genuinely beautiful jewels. In taking the function of jewellery literally as a way to reactivate memories and as a time marker, Karl Mazlo decided to act againts common practices. The issue here is not to dedicate his know-how to someone else's story but rather to unreel the threads of his own memories while allowing the viewer an immediate[...]

LE DIVIN (É)MOI

26 April 2013 - 14 July 2014

Jointly proposed by Gallery LA JOAILLERIE and ARKETIP association, this new exhibition follows "DIAMOND LIKE ME" (Diamond like me, 2012) which aimed to draw some analogies between the mineral reign and the human condition. This time, Robert Mazlo continues his exploration of the king of precious stones, by revealing its symbolic, spiritual and mystical dimensions through a new theme related to the divine.

In so doing, the jeweller also initiates a wider reflection on the relationship between art and spirituality[...]

LES PETITES PRINCESSES

8 December 2012 - 20 April 2013

Tender, spontaneous and full of youthful grace, each ring reveals the subtleties of its nature. Oscillating cheerfully between understated elegance and flamboyant daring, these unique pieces emphasize the harmonies of complementary colours and the delicate textures engraved in the precious metals. Les Petites Princesses evoke the atmosphere of a gynaecium, directly inspired by the pictural universe of Marie Laurencin and her palette of soft and refined colours.

The Vivaldi necklaces and bracelets, as well as the earrings complete the collection. Stones and pearls, delicately threaded on gold and silver wires, convey the illusion of a music[...]

DIAMOND LIKE ME - DIFFERENT LIKE ME

15 September 2011 - 31 March 2012

Devoted to Analogies, this exhibition inaugurates a cycle exclusively dedicated to diamond. Its aim and ambition ? Trying to renew our perception of the diamond by drawing up an « anthropomorphic » portrait of this outstanding gem. Exploring its inexhaustible natural expressiveness, through unique pieces of High Jewellery specially created by Karl and  Robert Mazlo

Indeed, whether eye-catching or stereotyped, the image of the diamond does not avoid clichés. It finds itself very often associated with reducing slogans that only touch lightly upon its diversity and especially its extraordinary [...]

ONCE UPON A TIME...LA JOAILLERIE

21 October 2010 - 31 July 2011

For this first exhibition organized by LA Joaillerie gallery and dedicated to fairy tales, Karl and Robert Mazlo will present 20 unique and original artworks, 20 contemporary reinterpretations of ancient stories coming straight from their imagination.

But do not expect to find any « Princess ring », nor any grandiloquent diadem among the works exhibited. Here, there is no room for sentimentality ! The two artists have indeed summoned the genuine « Mystery », with symbols, codes and references belonging to the Grand and Universal[...]
