Alejandra Solar
1975, Mexico
After graduating with a degree in graphic design, Alejandra Solar decided to continue her university studies and trained in jewellery-making, successively in the United States, Spain and Germany, where she obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Idar-Oberstein University of Applied Sciences in Trier. Her work has been published in books, magazines and catalogs, and exhibited in numerous international shows. Her pieces are part of prestigious international collections, including Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim, Germany ; Dallas Museum of Art, USA and Galeria Sztuki in Legnica, Poland. Alejandra Solar was awarded the Catalan Jewellers Association Design Prize in Barcelona in 2006 and in 2014 the New Traditional Jewellery Award at the Sieraad Art Fair in Amsterdam and the “ISSP Förderpreis Junge Schmuckkunst” by Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim. She received the 1st Prize at the international competition “City” in Legnica in 2016 and in 2018 she was awarded with the “RCMC Fellowship in Art Studies” from the Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden. Alejandra Solar currently lives and works in Luxembourg.
