Karin Herwegh

1968, Zuiddorpe, The Netherlands

Born in 1968 in Zuiddorpe, the Netherlands, Karin Herwegh studied fashion at the St. Joost Academy of Fine Arts in Breda from 1986 to 1991. After completing her studies, she realized that the world of fashion and its frenetic creation pace did not correspond to her aspirations.

She began to explore different types of materials and started making books full of sketches. She finally decided to attend the Technical school (Nijverheidsschool) in Antwerp, to train in jewellery techniques in the goldsmithing and jewellery section between 1999 and 2004. Since 2014 her raw material mainly shifted from metal to wood.

Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn and the Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg, the Netherlands. She lives and works in Hoofdplaat.
