Per Suntum

1944, Denmark

 

Per Suntum received his goldsmith’s degree with a silver medal in 1965 after completing his apprenticeship with Hans Hansen Silversmithy. In 1967, he left for Ireland, where he worked for a few years at Rionore before leaving Europe for Asia. For more than ten years, he studied and travelled between Asia and North Africa before returning to Denmark in 1981. He then resumed his training as a silversmith at the College for Silversmithing and Jewellery, graduating in 1985. His work can be found in numerous public and private collections, including the Bornholm Art Museum, Denmark ; the Röhss Museum of Art and Crafts in Göteborg, Sweden ; the Danish Arts Foundation, Denmark ; the Pahlman Collection, Finland ; the Helen W. Drutt English Collection, Philadelphia, USA. His work is regularly awarded prizes and distinctions, including the Life Long Granting for artists awarded by the Danish Arts Foundation and the Prize of Distinction awarded by the Inga and Ejvind Kold Christensen’s Foundation in 2003. He lives and works on the island of Bornholm in Denmark.
