Robert Mazlo

1949, Beirut, Lebanon

As a teenager, Robert Mazlo spent his free time in the jewellery workshops of Beirut, before moving to Italy to study classical jewellery at the Istituto Benvenuto Cellini in Valenza-Pô. In 1970, he graduated as a goldsmith, and in 1972 was awarded first prize in the Maestro d’Arte diploma in precious metals. On his return to Lebanon, he set up his own studio, but the outbreak of war in 1975 forced him to move to France, where he established his workshop in 1977. His work quickly gained recognition and he took part in numerous group and solo exhibitions. In particular, he exhibited for three consecutive years at the FIAC. While continuing to create bespoke jewellery, he also worked as a designer with S.T. Dupont, the Swiss watchmaking firm ETA and as a designer for the luxury group Chalhoub. In the 1990s, he temporarily withdrew from the public eye to set up his own ideal studio. At the same time, he wrote a book on the Tarot. The year 2010 marks both the birth of his concept gallery LA Joaillerie par MAZLO in Paris and his return to jewellery design.
