Sungho Cho

1975, Cheongsong, South Korea

 

Sungho Cho has a degree in metal and jewellery from Seoul National University. From 2006 to 2008, he studied in Italy at the Alchimia School in Florence with two masters of contemporary art jewellery, Manfred Bischoff and David Bielander. Then, from 2008 to 2013, he completed his training at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under the direction of Otto Künzli. In 2013, he was awarded the prize for the best goldsmith and jeweller of the year in Korea. In 2019, his work as a goldsmith was recognised with the Robbe & Berking Award presented by the Deutsche Goldschmiedehaus in Hanau, Germany. His work can be found in private and public collections : Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands ; Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, USA ; Chiwoo Craft Museum, Korea ; Cominelli Foundation, Italy ; Alice and Louis Koch Collection in Basel, Switzerland. In 2020, he was a finalist for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize.
