Open Call : #tarot | the book As part of its cultural and educational mission to promote contemporary art jewellery and to establish it as a recognised artistic discipline, the Robert Mazlo Endowment Fund for Art and Contemporary Art Jewellery proudly launched a bilingual book collection in 2023 entitled “Jewellery as Art”. Following “Sacrés Outils!”, the second volume of this collection, currently in development, is titled #Tarot. This volume emerges from a two-part collective exhibition held in 2023 and 2024 at LA joaillerie par Mazlo, the exhibition space of the Fund in Paris. In addition to the works of the artists initially invited to participate in the exhibition, which are already featured in the book, the Mazlo Fund now invites other contemporary jewellery artists or visual artists to submit one or more pieces inspired by the imagery of Tarot for selection and inclusion in this publication. The call for submissions is open to all contemporary jewellery artists or visual artists, regardless of age. All works, including previous creations, may be submitted for publication, provided they reference the imagery of the 22 major arcana of the Tarot as established by the Tarot de Conver. Selected pieces will be showcased alongside the artist’s profile and the technical details of the work. This initiative aims to celebrate the rich diversity of contemporary jewellery, but also to foster dialogue not only between different artistic disciplines, but also between tradition and modernity, encouraging artists to explore the imagery of tarot through their contemporary artistic perspectives. #opencall #opencallforartists #art artjewelry artjewellery visualarts tarot
This necklace is part of the series entitled “The This necklace is part of the series entitled “The Nature of Things,” which began in 2019 and in which Sigurd Bronger draws inspiration from elements found in nature and everyday life, even if these elements do not seem, at first glance, to be obvious choices for jewelry design: they remind us of the fragility of nature and life. Here, water is literally encapsulated in a metal module, like a reliquary, allowing this precious liquid, without which life would never have appeared on Earth, to be passed on to future generations. As a true « heretic », Gisbert Stach has chosen to As a true « heretic », Gisbert Stach has chosen to appropriate this legendary stone, once a symbol of power and prestige, but now associated with a dusty vision of jewellery. The titles of his works sound like excerpts from the menu of a food-truck: Golden toasts, Schnitzel, Fritz’s snack, Gold fingers, Calamari Fritti and other Sushi unveil as simulacra of the most popular dishes of urban cuisine, often associated with Fast or even Junk food. Transgressive as it may be, Gisbert Stach’s approach does not derogate in any way from the principles of technical mastery and illusionism dear to collectors of Mirabilia. However you will not find any trace of the original amber in his works. The precious material is there literally pulverized and crushed, before being mixed with silicone and sprinkled like bread crumbs on the surface of pins, which invite themselves more to be biten than to be worn. For Gisbert Stach, derision is a way of revisiting our relationship to jewellery as an investment object (emotional, sentimental, material?) and of questioning our value system. Jewellery has indeed always occupied a place of choice among the remarkable works collected and preserved in cabinets of curiosities. Appel à candidature #tarot | le livre Dans le ca Appel à candidature #tarot | le livre Dans le cadre de sa mission culturelle et éducative en faveur de la promotion du bijou contemporain et de sa reconnaissance comme discipline artistique, le Fonds de dotation Robert Mazlo pour l’art et le bijou contemporain, a inauguré en 2023 une collection de livres bilingues dédiée au bijou contemporain intitulée « Jewellery as Art ». Le deuxième volume de cette collection actuellement en préparation est intitulé #Tarot. Il découle de l’exposition collective en deux volets organisée en 2023 et 2024 à la galerie LA joaillerie par Mazlo, lieu d’exposition du Fonds de dotation à Paris. Outre les oeuvres des artistes initialement invités à participer à l’exposition qui figurent déjà dans le livre, le Fonds Mazlo souhaite aujourd’hui convier d’autres artistes du bijou contemporain ou artistes plasticiens à soumettre une ou plusieurs oeuvres inspirées par l’imagerie du Tarot pour qu’elles soient sélectionnées et incluses dans cet ouvrage. Currently on display at @la_joaillerie is a hybrid Currently on display at @la_joaillerie is a hybrid work combining photography, design, and jewelry history, as part of photographer Hector Olguin’s solo exhibition: 1350°C Set of nine brooches and their box/case, 2017. Light oak wood, black velvet, felt, porcelain, metal. The 1350°C project was born out of a collaboration between Hector Olguin, a French-Chilean visual artist/photographer, and Cynthia Ayral, a French designer/set designer, who shared a common interest in eroticism. This project combines Japanese and European references: the tradition of cameos and that of Shunga (erotic prints from the Edo period, 17th-19th centuries). Produced in three copies, this work questions the elusive nature of eroticism, considered as an intellectual construct: a path leading to desire. Combining mixed techniques, this hybrid art object consists of a case containing nine oval photographs printed on porcelain. Their author, Hector Olguin, draws inspiration from the world of Shunga, and more specifically from the reinterpretations made by pop artists in Japan from 1945 onwards. He identifies with the exuberance of the scenes depicted and the “madness of colors.” In 1350°C, desire is materialized in photographic objects, in contemporary jewelry. Appropriating the traditional form of oversized cameos, these oval photographs break free from their contours. The prong setting frees the motif. The discreet presence of a fibula invites us to appropriate this image as a piece of jewelry. Porcelain is chosen for its sensuality and finesse. From October 23 to November 29, 2025, the Robert M From October 23 to November 29, 2025, the Robert Mazlo Endowment Fund for Art and Contemporary Art Jewellery welcomes Héctor Olguin for an exhibition of a new series of photographs at the LA Joaillerie par Mazlo gallery, in collaboration with the Alice Art Foundation, and the Arketip association. Dos copas mas y te olvido. A humorous title for this project comprising 16 photographs taken in Paris between 2022 and 2024. This series addresses the theme of romantic breakups by exploring the emotional process that follows a separation. The images convey the multiple states of mind that punctuate this journey. As Hector Olguin explains, “while all love stories are unique, there is something universal about the experience of a break-up. In the fact of being overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotions: incomprehension, anger, frustration, despair, emptiness, hesitation, sadness. Then, with time, acceptance, appeasement. Finally, liberation. The characters in Dos copas mas y te olvido embody these emotions and torments through their gestures, contortions and sometimes grimaces. The body painting reinforces this impression of a marked body, inhabited in its flesh by the memory of the lost loved one. The narrative does not follow a strict chronology. It is more like an interior space into which each viewer is invited to project their own experiences. Sigurd Bronger | Carrying device for 500 cubic zir Sigurd Bronger | Carrying device for 500 cubic zirconia | Brooch | 2006. Currently on view as part of the « Conciliabules of LA Joaillerie ». For more than thirty years, Sigurd Bronger has been standing as a maverick figurehead in the international experimental jewelry scene, for in him Homo Faber and Homo Ludens merge to create an original figure of jeweler-engineer. This designation fits this artist like a glove, since he has long abandoned the essentially ornamental function of jewellery. Since the end of the 90’s, he has concentrated on the elaboration of objects based on the principle of the ready-made, which he names « wearable devices » and designs to stage all sorts of things. Some are drawn from the most prosaic every- day life – soap, eraser, used sole, sink drain –, while others – nautilus, eggs – have more to do with the Na- turalia of the cabinets of curiosities. Jana Machatova | Mega Busol | Brooch | 2020 Curren Jana Machatova | Mega Busol | Brooch | 2020 Currently on show as part of the «  Conciliabules of LA joaillerie »: Inspired by a collection of cutouts from an old German women’s magazine for handcrafts entitled Frauenfleiss, which Jana Machatova found in the attic of her house, the artist tackles the subject of traditional female roles in the early twentieth century.She recognized them as timestamps in the life of an unknown woman whose dreams of a better life at the beginning of the 20th century were snuffed out prematurely by tragic historical events: two world wars and an ensuing abusive political system.
